Manchester United legend Roy Keane caught the eye of Ian Wright with a questionable decision he made and was even playfully teased by one Italy icon.
The 53-year-old former Manchester United star is widely regarded as one of the best midfielders and captains of all time after his prolific playing career at Old Trafford.
Roy Keane excelled in the heart of midfield as a box-to-box midfielder and the United legend ascended to the captaincy after Eric Cantona’s sudden retirement.
The Irish hardman famously captained United to a continental treble in the 1998-99 season, with Keane playing a pivotal role in the Champions League campaign.
During his time at Old Trafford, Keane lifted seven Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy and four FA Cups under Sir Alex Ferguson.
However, the Irishman’s legendary spell at the Premier League club came to an end in 2005 after his relationship with former manager Sir Alex Ferguson splintered.
Keane was shown the door at Old Trafford amid his feud with Ferguson and the former United skipper saw out the remainder of his playing career at Celtic.

Wright poked fun at Man Utd legend Keane
During one episode of The Overlap on Tour, Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, Ian Wright and Roy Keane linked up with Roma legend Daniele De Rossi at a restaurant.
Arsenal legend Wright didn’t pass up the opportunity to drop a cheeky swipe on Keane after he spotted the Manchester United legend cutting up his pasta.
“Roy Keane is cutting his pasta, this is crazy,” he said.
Daniele De Rossi, who has waxed lyrical about Keane’s influence in the past, hilariously ended up getting involved and branded the United legend an “idol.”
“An idol, an idol. Cutting spaghetti,” he said.
Remaining firm on his position, Keane responded to Wright: “Why didn’t you tell me how to eat the pasta?”
Wright hilariously pulled no punches towards Keane and told his fellow Stick to Football panellist that he didn’t expect him to do such a thing with the pasta.
“Because I didn’t realise you would do something like that,” he replied.
Keane laughed off De Rossi’s comments with a tongue-in-cheek remark about the Italy icon, who lifted a World Cup trophy with his country in 2006.
“He [De Rossi] lost a lot of respect for me,” Keane said.
De Rossi on admiration for Man Utd legend Keane
Daniele De Rossi has shared his deep-seated admiration for Keane and how the United legend played a part in influencing him to wear the No 16 shirt.
“In my opinion, the legendary Manchester United captain needs no introduction,” he told Roma’s official website in 2016.
“He’s my all-time idol. Besides Gaia [my daughter, who was born on the 16th], I wear 16 because of him.
“He’s the only person in the world I’ve asked for a photo, two years ago. I was too embarrassed with [Diego] Maradona but I couldn’t resist with him.”
