Ruben Amorim could revitalise one struggling Manchester United star’s playing career by implementing a key position change under him at Old Trafford, according to stunning reports.

The new Manchester United manager will take charge of his Red Devils match on Sunday when his side travel to Portman Road for their clash with Ipswich Town.

The Red Devils currently languish in 13th place in the Premier League table after winning only four matches in their opening 11 league matches.

Ruben Amorim agreed to become the new United manager earlier this month after Erik ten Hag was axed by the Premier League club in late October.

The 39-year-old Portuguese manager arrived at the start of the November international break after leaving Sporting CP.

Ruud van Nistelrooy had taken charge of the Red Devils for a four-match interim managerial spell after former United manager Erik ten Hag was dismissed.

The 48-year-old United legend’s spell came to an end after Amorim’s arrival at Old Trafford, with the ex-Sporting CP boss not retaining Ruud van Nistelrooy’s services.

Amorim to reinvent Man Utd star?

Ruben Amorim led his first Manchester United training session on Monday at the Carrington training complex amid the November international break.

According to The Sun, Antony was spotted taking part in the training session and the United star appeared to be playing in a new position under United manager Amorim.

Amorim is widely expected to play with a three-man backline at United and to use wing-backs as part of a 3-4-3 formation.

Antony has struggled to make an impact as a winger at Old Trafford and has often been criticised for his performances since his big-money move from Ajax.

The 24-year-old Brazilian winger played under Erik ten Hag at Ajax before United signed him for an initial fee of £82m.

Antony has faced increasing competition for a role out on the right wing, with Amad Diallo and Alejandro Garnacho both vying for a place in the starting XI.

A change in attitude for Antony?

Antony’s first-team minutes have been limited since his Old Trafford move and the ex-Ajax star has managed only five appearances across all competitions this season.

The Sun reported that the Brazil international ‘appeared confident’ with the wing-back role due to not ‘having to cover for a marauding full-back.’

Antony’s willingness to play as a wing-back is a change in attitude, considering how the United winger felt under former Ajax boss Ten Hag last season.

The United star was met with criticism last season over his attitude after he was told to play as a makeshift left-back for the Red Devils.

Ten Hag provided instructions for Antony to play as a makeshift defender in the 1-0 defeat to Arsenal in May and the United star appeared baffled with the move.
