Former Manchester United player Gordon Hill has staunchly defended one Red Devils star after the 1-1 Premier League draw at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Bruno Fernandes broke the deadlock in the second half for Manchester United after he successfully converted from the spot-kick against Chelsea.
However, United’s advantage lasted only four minutes after Moises Caicedo’s stunning volley cancelled out Bruno Fernandes’ opener for the Red Devils.
United had to settle for a point from their clash at Old Trafford, with the Red Devils currently 13th in the Premier League table after their opening 10 league matches.
Ruud van Nistelrooy has been installed as United interim manager after Erik ten Hag was sacked from the Red Devils last week.
The 48-year-old United legend kicked off his interim managerial spell with a 5-2 win over Leicester City in the round of 16 of the Carabao Cup last week.

Hill’s message to Man Utd fans
Ruud van Nistelrooy’s interim managerial run will come to an end this week after the Europa League clash against PAOK and the Premier League match with Leicester City.
Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim will become Erik ten Hag’s successor at United and will arrive at Old Trafford during the November international break.
Van Nistelrooy played an attacking quartet of Rasmus Hojlund, Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho against Chelsea on Sunday.
Alejandro Garnacho saw out the full 90 minutes against the Blues, but the United winger was wasteful in the final third and failed to make his mark in the match.
Former United winger Gordon Hill took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, and staunchly defended the 20-year-old Spain-born attacker.
“Leave Garnacho alone and let him learn his game, yes he will make mistakes, and learn from them, I made mistakes but learned my lesson,” he tweeted.
Responding to one X user, Hill added in a follow-up tweet: “He is in the deep end and I am afraid he will have to swim.
“All young players need nursing, but in today’s game, there is no time.”
Van Nistelrooy on Garnacho and Man Utd
Speaking after Sunday’s 1-1 draw, Van Nistelrooy claimed that United should have won and pointed to Garnacho coming “close three times” to scoring against Chelsea.
“I’m slightly disappointed we didn’t take the win, to be honest. I think we had the better of the chances in the game,” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.
“Garna was close three times, Marcus hit the post with a great attack and Bruno in the last couple of minutes where he had the shot, when it bounced off one of the Chelsea defenders.
“Overall, I think the performance of the players was fantastic. They left their all out there on the pitch and in the end, of course, we settled for a draw.”
