Manchester United fans “don’t even want to think about” where they would be without the influence of one key player under manager Ruben Amorim.
That is according to presenter Karen Carney, who insisted that it is “shocking” that Manchester United have only one “world-class player” among their ranks.
The Red Devils picked up their second consecutive win across all competitions under Ruben Amorim on the weekend after their visit to Craven Cottage.
United secured a 2-1 Europa League win over Rangers at Old Trafford last Thursday before picking up their 1-0 Premier League victory over Fulham on Sunday.
Lisandro Martinez broke the deadlock and scored the winner for United in the second half, with the defender’s strike benefiting from a deflection off Sasa Lukic.
Amorim’s side are now 12th in the Premier League table and United are 13 points clear of the relegation zone and 12 points adrift of the top four.
United have only managed eight Premier League wins from 23 matches in the 2024-25 campaign amid a mixed run of form for the Red Devils.

Man Utd ace’s influence is crucial
Despite their Premier League form at times, Manchester United have won their last four Europa League matches under Ruud van Nistelrooy and Ruben Amorim.
The Red Devils are within touching distance of ensuring their place in the last 16 of the competition, with United currently fourth in the Europa League table.
United can definitely secure their place in the knockout stages of the Europa League if they beat Romanian side FCSB away from home on Thursday evening.
Speaking ahead of the 1-0 win over Fulham, Karen Carney singled out the impact that Bruno Fernandes has had for United since his arrival at Old Trafford in 2020.
Bruno Fernandes has been arguably United’s best signing in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era and the Red Devils captain has been a key influence in the first team.
The 30-year-old Portugal midfielder retained the captain’s armband under Amorim and Fernandes has been widely praised for his impact at United.
When asked about where United would be without Fernandes’ influence, Carney told TNT Sports (via the Metro): “Manchester United fans don’t even want to think about that.
“He’s maybe the only world-class player in that team, which is shocking to think about. He’s so key for them, he’s world-class.”
Amorim welcomes Man Utd win
Amorim insisted that it is “really important” for United to build on their momentum and win matches after a mixed run of form this season.
Speaking on the importance of the result, he told TNT Sports after the Fulham clash: “Really important. To have this feeling away from home and great support from our away fans as always.
“Not a great game, you can feel it, there were no great chances in the end with the long balls. We tried to control the game, tried to play our game, but we need to improve a lot and you can feel it.
“This time we hold the result and in one goal we closed the game. It’s really important to win now.”
