Manchester United made it two wins in a row as they continued to prefer life away from Old Trafford, winning 1-0 at Fulham in a game lacking quality.
Man Utd continued their goal-shy ways in the first half, finishing without a single shot on target but at least restricted Fulham too, going in goalless at half-time.
The dour pattern followed late into the second half and needed something freakish to break it which is what arrived with Lisandro Martinez’s shot.
A hopeful shot from distance deflected and floated over Bernd Leno’s outstretched hand to give United the lead. A tetchy game threatened to come alive late on as Fulham almost equalised off a set piece but United protected their lead and three points in a game of few moments.

Here’s how the players rated-
Andre Onana – 5
Didn’t collect Fulham’s shots cleanly and Hojlund had a go at him for playing hopeful long balls at him. He will most welcome a clean sheet.
Matthijs de Ligt – 7
Strong defensively with some last-ditch interventions combined with secure passing.
Harry Maguire – 6.5
No repeat of his error vs Rangers as he dealt with Fulham’s threat capably.
Lisandro Martinez – 6.5
Had more freedom to move forward due to Mazraoui’s position and made it count with his goal late on, albeit lucky due to a deflection.
Noussair Mazraoui – 5
Weirdly played as almost a No. 10 at times as he was heavily inverted, starting on the left this time. Struggled in the buildup.
Diogo Dalot – 4
Restored to his stronger right side but there were no bombing overlaps. Alex Iwobi had plenty of joy down his side and he remained wasteful with the ball.
Manuel Ugarte – 6
Flew under the radar a bit. Was tasked with an even more difficult job as Fernandes is prone to running forward.
Bruno Fernandes – 5
Tried to get United moving up the pitch but with no threat. The midfield often looked overrun as he trudged forward.
Amad – 5
His most ineffective game in quite some time and his luck was summed up in injury time when a well-taken goal was ruled out for offside.
Alejandro Garnacho – 6.5
Always showed for the ball and some threatening dribbles marked him out as the best among a bad attacking crop.
Rasmus Hojlund – 2
He had an uphill task going up against Bassey and Andersen and so it proved. They dominated him.

Substitutes
Joshua Zirkzee – 6
The better of two poor strikers.
Leny Yoro – 6
Came on to limit De Ligt’s minutes and get some of his own. Composed.
Toby Collyer – 7
Ugarte was running on fumes so Collyer added much-needed energy to the midfield. Saved three points for United with a goalline clearance late on.
Tyrell Malacia – 6
Came on late to shore up the defense.
Kobbie Mainoo – 6
Same as Malacia but for the midfield.
