Manchester United fans dropped their clear-cut verdict after watching Tyrell Malacia in action during PSV Eindhoven’s crushing 7-1 defeat to Arsenal in the Champions League.
Tyrell Malacia missed the entirety of Manchester United’s 2023-24 season due to a long-term injury before making his long-awaited return in the current campaign.
The 25-year-old Dutch left-back underwent knee surgery in 2023 and was left fighting an uphill battle to return to full fitness and kick-start his career again.
Malacia was initially brought to Old Trafford in 2022 after United signed him from Dutch side Feyenoord, with Erik ten Hag being Red Devils boss at the time.
The former Feyenoord player’s return to first-team action for United in 2024 came after Erik ten Hag was sacked as United manager last October.
Malacia did feature under Ruben Amorim in the 2024-25 campaign, but the Red Devils star failed to have a meaningful impact under the current United manager.
The United defender would leave Old Trafford before the January window shut and completed a loan move to Dutch side PSV Eindhoven in February.

Man Utd fans react to Malacia’s display vs Arsenal
Tyrell Malacia’s loan spell with PSV Eindhoven is until the end of the season and the Manchester United player was in the starting XI for Tuesday’s Champions League clash.
The Netherlands international saw out the whole 90 minutes of the first-leg round-of-16 tie against Premier League side Arsenal at the Philips Stadium.
However, it was a night to forget for Malacia and Co as Mikel Arteta’s men shipped seven past PSV and the Gunners sealed an emphatic win in the Champions League.
United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, pulled no punches towards Malacia over his PSV showing in the 7-1 thumping defeat.
“Look [at] how many of Arsenal’s goals came from Malacia’s side. Horrific defender. Worse than [Alexander] Buttner,” one fan said.
Another X user wrote: “A team with Malacia in it conceded [seven] goals again.”
Someone else tweeted: “Be lucky to get £5 for Malacia on current form. Such a shame injuries destroyed him.”
“Play Malacia, get found out,” a fourth simply suggested.
While a fifth United supporter commented: “Our ‘super signing’ Malacia just shipped [seven] to [an] Arsenal [side] without a striker. Jesus wept.”
“I forgot Malacia is playing for PSV,” another pointed out.
A Red Devils fan shared during the match: “Not surprised it’s 6-1 to Arsenal when Malacia’s on the pitch.”
An eighth posted: “Malacia is not the same player he once was. Real nightmare for him and only 30 minutes played. United must sell him in the summer.”
Malacia’s days at Man Utd could be numbered
Malacia has secured playing time in his native homeland since he returned to the Eredivisie with PSV, but the United player’s future remains uncertain at Old Trafford.
The PSV player’s contract with United will expire in 2026 and it has been reported that the Eredivisie club have an option to buy Malacia as part of their deal.
Malacia’s full wages are being covered during his loan spell and the United player has a chance to put his career back on the right path in the Netherlands.
However, the Dutch left-back’s disappointing performance against Arsenal makes it unlikely that United will be desperate for him to return from his loan spell.
Malacia failed to impress under Ruben Amorim’s tactical system at United and now faces increasing competition after the arrival of defender Patrick Dorgu from Lecce.
