Andre Onana and Manchester United have been slammed after Ruben Amorim’s men secured a draw against Lyon in the Europa League quarter-finals on Thursday.
The Red Devils came close to snatching a crucial advantage for the second leg of the Europa League quarter-final encounter at Old Trafford on 17th April.
Manchester United suffered two major blows against Lyon at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais, with Andre Onana at fault on both occasions in the match in France.
Onana poorly timed his position and dive for Lyon’s opener in the first half, with Thiago Almada converting from a direct free-kick in the 25th minute.
Leny Yoro equalised for United in the first half of injury time before Ruben Amorim’s men took the lead in the second half through substitute Joshua Zirkzee.
However, Onana would cost the Red Devils again in second-half stoppage time after a late Lyon attack produced a crucial equaliser for the Ligue 1 outfit.
The 29-year-old Cameroonian parried Georges Mikautadze’s powerful close-range strike back into a dangerous position and Rayan Cherki pounced on the opportunity.

Former Ajax and Inter Milan star Andre Onana was already under immense pressure ahead of Manchester United and Lyon’s Europa League result on Thursday evening.
Onana made critical comments about Lyon ahead of the first-leg Europa League quarter-final tie after United’s 0-0 Premier League draw against Manchester City last Sunday.
Former United and Chelsea star Nemanja Matic pulled no punches towards Onana ahead of Thursday’s match and the Cameroonian wasted no time hitting back.
Gordon Hill took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, and wasted no time calling out the trash-talking antics of Onana after his horror show display.
“Talk is cheap, I suppose,” he simply tweeted.

Speaking at his post-match press conference, United manager Ruben Amorim insisted that it is important for him to stay “natural” over the Onana situation.
“We have training, go with [goalkeeping coach Jorge] Vital and we deal with that,” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.
“So, I’m really natural that can happen with any player. There’s nothing I can say to Andre in this moment that will help him.
“So, the most important thing is to be natural. And then when the time comes, I will choose the best 11 to play. But I’m really confident in Andre.”
United will now return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon with their trip to St James’ Park against Newcastle, with kick-off slated for 4:30pm UK time.
