A Manchester United star has insisted that he wants to “fight for the club” under Ruben Amorim after the Red Devils boss replaced Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.
Erik ten Hag was dismissed as Manchester United manager in late October after a poor start to the 2024-25 Premier League season.
Ruud van Nistelrooy took over as United interim manager after Ten Hag’s sacking and the Red Devils legend won three matches and picked up one draw in his spell.
The 48-year-old Leicester City manager left Old Trafford after Ruben Amorim’s arrival during the start of the November international break.
United activated the £9.25m release clause in Amorim’s Sporting CP contract and the 39-year-old Portuguese manager inked a deal with the Red Devils until June 2027.
Amorim was widely praised for his work at Sporting CP, but the United manager has faced a mammoth task ahead of him at Old Trafford amid the Red Devils’ form.

Speaking to SuperSport, Amad Diallo has admitted that he has found “confidence” at Old Trafford this season after an increase in first-team opportunities.
The 22-year-old Manchester United star is enjoying his breakout season at the Red Devils, but Amad Diallo had to consistently fight for his place under Erik ten Hag.
Amad, who impressed during the pre-season tour in the summer, was often rotated under Ten Hag before the former United manager was axed by the club.
However, the Ivorian attacker has become a key first-team player under Ruben Amorim and suited the former Sporting CP manager’s tactical system.
“Yeah, let’s say maybe it’s confidence because now I’m playing a lot of games,” Amad said.
“Like I am now, I’ve been every time like this but maybe the game time and confidence.
“But now I’m happy to play more games and I just want to fight for the club, for the team, every time the manager gives me the confidence and gives me the chance to play for this club, I just want to show I can play for this club.”

Amad Diallo has made 26 appearances across all competitions this season and the United winger scored five times and registered seven assists so far.
He has arguably been one of United’s standout performers this season and has played as a winger, a wing-back and as a No 10 in the current campaign.
Amad is out of contract with the Red Devils next summer, but United have the option to trigger a one-year extension.
The Ivory Coast international has insisted that his “dream” is to stay at Old Trafford and “achieve a lot of things” with the Red Devils.
“My dream is to achieve a lot of things with this club, that’s why I’m here,” Amad continued.
“I want to fight for this badge and let’s see what the future brings.”
