Ruben Amorim will officially begin his role as head coach on Monday, November 11th, but already he has some big decisions to make.
Excitement among Manchester United fans is at a fever pitch right now after watching Sporting Lisbon thrash Manchester City.
Ruben Amorim masterminded a 4-1 win at the Jose Alvalade stadium as he bid farewell to the loyal Sporting support.
After the game, Geovany Quenda and Viktor Gyokeres sent messages to Amorim, with just one final game before the 39-year-old begins work at Carrington.
With 2025 just under two months away, the contract situation of several players will need to be sorted out quite quickly upon Amorim’s arrival – now we have an update on the status of two of these players.

How Manchester United are feeling about Amad Diallo contract extension
The contract situation on Amad Diallo is quite a sensitive subject with the Ivorian yet to sign – and his current deal expires in 2025.
However, United in Focus have spoken with transfer expert Graeme Bailey who has explained the latest and admitted Ineos have confidence.
“Obviously they’ve been talking since the summer and hope to get it done by January. I think there’s a real confidence he will sign, the club rate him very highly.
“They may take up the option just to get him through until the summer, but they will not be taking the option against Diallo’s wishes.
“He wants to stay, he wants a new deal and when you have everybody pulling the same direction it does lean towards him signing a new deal, ideally it would have been done by now, but don’t think it’ll be a major issue.”
Amad currently earns £28,846-a-week at Old Trafford, a figure we expect to be multiplied if he is to get a new contract considering his growing importance at the club.
Harry Maguire’s stance on remaining at Old Trafford under Ruben Amorim
While Amad’s situation is important, it is not the only one with Harry Maguire’s future also unclear – now United in Focus can report that the 31-year-old is expecting to stay.
“As we know from the past few transfer windows Harry Maguire is dedicated to United, he doesn’t want to leave, he loves the club and wants to stay.
“He sees Amorim coming in, from my understanding, he sees it as a real opportunity for him to earn at least another year [at the club].
“I don’t believe that he will entertain any contract offers in January or even any moves. Amorim has indicated he will give players a fresh start so it’s an interesting situation.”
Maguire staying for an extra year would be welcomed, in a defensive unit which could become increasingly young.
Additionally, Maguire would provide depth and has the ball-playing qualities that Amorim depends on from his central defenders.
The decision will ultimately be down to Dan Ashworth – but we imagine Amorim will be given a chance to express his views on the players.
Both of these should instantly be kept.
