Man United are making the wrong £130m double transfer raid, Ineos need to make a U-turn

Manchester United are stepping up talks with Mateus Fernandes and could reportedly make a double raid on West Ham for Crysencio Summerville.

It has been reported that Mateus Fernandes is desperate to join Manchester United this summer, and talks are advancing to sign the Portuguese midfielder.

Now, fresh reports claim United are showing serious interest in Crysencio Summerville as a potential £50 million transfer target.

Considering Fernandes is valued at £85m by West Ham, it would seem that Ineos are gearing up for a double raid that could cost north of £130m.

Man United must stop West Ham raid and return to former target

United fans want Fernandes to sign for the club, but the Summerville rumours have come out of thin air and taken many supporters by surprise.

Previously, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claimed (via FootballFaithful) United believed that signing Newcastle United duo Sandro Tonali and Lewis Hall would cost £130m combined.

That combined fee was enough to make United cool their interest in the Newcastle duo, but yet now Ineos seem ready to spend the same amount on Mateus Fernandes and Summerville.

The number one priority was to bolster the midfield this summer, and Fernandes is rightly Ineos’ number one target. But between Summerville and Hall, it is the latter who would add more to this current United squad.

United need a left-back far more than they need a versatile playmaker like Summerville.

Ineos must U-turn and go for Lewis Hall

Hall is open to joining United this summer, and he may only be available until Newcastle sell another key player.

Considering Tottenham are stepping up interest in Tonali, United may have to move quickly to sign the English defender.

United scouts admire Hall and he is a perfect long-term replacement for Luke Shaw, who will also need competition heading into a hectic 2026/27 schedule.

Personally, I think Ineos should forget the Summerville interest and turn back for Hall before it’s too late.
