Low-key Ineos hire is ‘best in the business’ and is another top appointment, says journalist

On Wednesday morning, another new hire begun his Manchester United career.

Now, as the more impatient sections of the Red Devils fanbase await a decision over the future of Erik ten Hag, Ineos latest behind-the-scenes hire may have gone a little under the radar.

But, make no mistake, this is, as one reporter says, ‘another indication’ of Sir Jim Ratcliffe‘s desire to make Old Trafford home to the most elite, the most world-leading operators in a variety of different sectors and roles.

Manchester United sent ripples through the Premier League, per The Athletic, when they lured Omar Berrada across the city as their new CEO. Berrada, one of Barcelona, was viewed as a major figure in the emergence of United’s bitter rivals as a dominant force in English football.

Jean-Claude Blanc, meanwhile, was the brains behind the financial brawn at Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus. Jason Wilcox, another with Man City connections, ensures that United also have a man with a genuine footballing background operating in the technical director role at last.

Dan Ashworth, the man who was partly responsible for vast improvements at Brighton and Newcastle and England’s transformation into genuine Euro and World Cup challengers under Gareth Southgate, is also expected to arrive at some point in the near future.

Ineos make another new hire at Manchester United

Understandably, the Daily Mail‘s claim that Toby Craig had joined Man United as the club’s new chief communications officer was not greeted with quite so much excitement from the majority of the Red Devils supporters.

But those a little more au fait with the role Craig played at both Chelsea and then the City Football Group will tell you that this is another step towards achieving Ineos’ dream of employing the very best in the business in all departments, on and off the pitch.

“Toby Craig begins his role as Manchester United’s new chief communications officer (on Wednesday),” reporter Ben Jacobs tells the mufcMPB YouTube channel.

“This is another phenomenal hire by INEOS. (Craig is) one of the best in the business at what he does. He was at City Football Group, he was at Chelsea and now he’s coming to United. He knows Omar Berrada well.

“This is another indication of a ‘best in class’ hire. It’s another senior leadership hire.”

Toby Craig begins Old Trafford role today

The Mail reports that Craig, who will report into Berrada, is seen as another ‘significant’ addition in the Ineos era.

According to The Org, Craig worked a a Director of Corporate Affairs and as a Director of Commercial Communications in the City Football Group, as well as as the Head of Marketing Communications.

Craig, a graduate of the University of Leeds, also has a degree in Law from the University of London.
