The first few days of the November international break have been extremely tough for Lisandro Martinez.

The 26-year-old endured a slow start to the season, but there are now signs that Martinez and Matthijs de Ligt are forming a solid partnership in the heart of defence.
That will be music to the ears of new head coach Ruben Amorim, who is expected to implement a 3-4-3 system at United with three centre-backs at the foundation of his team.

Lisandro Martinez suffers nightmare start to international duty
Martinez will hope to work his way into Amorim’s plans at United but before they got the chance to meet at Carrington he jetted out to international duty.
The Argentina star was one of 14 United players called up for international duty in November, with Martinez making the trip to South America to play his part in his nation’s World Cup qualifiers.
However, during his journey, Martinez was stranded at an airport for 30 hours in Brazil alongside teammates Emiliano Martinez, Cristian Romero, Enzo Fernandez and Facundo Buonanotte.
In what was a disastrous start to his international break, it meant Martinez was late to meet up with the rest of the Argentina squad in Paraguay ahead of their match on Thursday night.
Now, Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni has confirmed that things have gone from bad to worse.
