The Dutchman now boasts the highest win rate of any Manchester United manager and has put the Red Devils within four points of the top four ahead of Ruben Amorim’s arrival as head coach.
Van Nistelrooy has made it clear he wants to stay at Old Trafford and he has impressed during his time as interim, but Amorim will hold crunch talks over his future on Monday.
Ahead of Amorim’s first day, it was not only Van Nistelrooy who impressed…

Four Man United stars named in Team of the Week
It has not happened enough this season, but United were superb against Leicester on Sunday. They controlled the match from the very first minute and created an abundance of chances all while keeping a clean sheet.
WhoScored announced their Premier League Team of the Week on Monday morning and four United players made the cut.
The highest-rated United player named in the team was Bruno Fernandes with a rating of 8.79.
Fernandes has superb under Van Nistelrooy, scoring four goals across his four matches in charge. He added to his tally by scoring the opener against Leicester before playing a big part in the second goal too.
Amad Diallo has made himself undroppable with two incredible performances back-to-back and he makes the team at right wing with a rating of 8.4
Defensive duo Noussair Mazraoui and Lisandro Martinez were the other two United players included with ratings of 7.8 and 7.59 respectively.
United kept their fifth clean sheet in the Premier League and both Mazraoui and Martinez played a big role in that.
Players are stepping up for Ruben Amorim
Amorim is set to begin his role as United’s new head coach, and over the international break he will be eager to get to know his new squad before his first match against Ipswich Town.
With Amorim set to deploy a 3-4-3 system at United, it leaves plenty of question marks around who will – and won’t play.
It has clearly triggered a reaction from United players, who have stepped up in recent weeks and impressed.

Martinez and Mazraoui seem to fit neatly into Amorim’s system, but it is yet to be seen how he plans to involve Amad and Fernandes.
They proved against Leicester that they deserve their spot as starters, but they will have to adapt to a new style of play.
