Kobbie Mainoo has been featuring for England U19s over the past week whilst he continues his road to recovery at Manchester United.

The talented young midfielder featured off the substitutes bench for England U19s in their opening game on their trip. The young Three Lions won 6-0 in Marbella.

Just four days later, Kobbie Mainoo was in action once again for England. This time, he featured from the off against Japan in a game with a dramatic last-minute winner.

Mainoo got 76 minutes on the pitch and was eventually substituted for Jamie Donley of Tottenham Hotspur – although little much more is known about the fixture.

Kobbie Mainoo shares unseen England U19 role

The game against Japan got little to no coverage, so the 18-year-old took to social media to reveal something unknown to fans about the fixture.

In his Instagram story, Mainoo can be seen leading the England U19 side out, with the red captain’s armband firmly placed around his bicep.

Mainoo was the captain on the international stage, which adds yet another exciting quality to his Manchester United repertoire.

Yet another box ticked for Manchester United

Kobbie Mainoo is already displaying leadership qualities.

The fact he’s trusted to captain England U19s an entire year below the age bracket speaks volumes. He’s evidently a prominent, vocal figure in the international setup which boasts talents such as Jobe Bellingham.

We also know this from his time in Manchester United’s academy sides. Mainoo has frequently captained United’s youth sides before at multiple levels.

The ever-growing list of boxes keep getting ticked for Mainoo. There really hasn’t been this much hype surrounding a youth player coming through since Mason Greenwood.

Baby steps. He still hasn’t played in any real tough tests for Manchester United’s first-team squad. Although – all signs are really promising for the young man.
