Key Erik ten Hag ally could now leave Manchester United once Ruben Amorim arrives

Manchester United are nearing the appointment of a new manager and Ruben Amorim will face some decisions over his coaching staff.

Manchester United sacked Erik ten Hag earlier this week and appear to have a replacement on the brink of arrival.

United want to land Ruben Amorim and a deal now looks be imminent.

The Portuguese media claim that United have agreed a deal to appoint Amorim, paying €11million (£9.2million) for his services.

There is an intriguing hitch though as Amorim will only take charge of United after the upcoming international break.

That means Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of three more United games before Amorim arrives to take over ahead of facing Ipswich Town.

Amorim will take charge of three more Sporting games before heading to Old Trafford.

The Portuguese coach will soon have big decisions to make about his coaching team at United – and he is already eyeing moves.

Amorim wants Sporting coaches Carlos Fernandes and Adelio Candido at United having worked together at Braga too.

The Daily Mail now claim that one United coach could move on with Rene Hake’s future ‘in doubt’.

It’s stated that ‘there is an expectation’ – seemingly coming from Dutch sources – that Hake will leave United.

Hake has a strong bond with former boss Erik ten Hag and that connection may lead to his departure.

Hake and Ten Hag had previously crossed paths at FC Twente and had maintained a strong relationship in the Netherlands.

A key coaching addition for United over the summer, Hake was clearly a Ten Hag choice – but that means Hake may follow his former boss out of the door.

Rene Hake gamble didn’t really pay off

Hake took quite the gamble in joining United.

The Dutchman had a safe and secure job as Go Ahead Eagles boss, guiding them to a ninth-place finish in the Eredivisie.

Hake decided to give all of that up in order to become one of Ten Hag’s coaches in a rather bold move.

Go Ahead Eagles criticised United over the move for Hake and he may be wondering if he made the wrong decision.

Hake will have taken something from his time at United though, and that will stand him in good stead for his next managerial role – which surely won’t be too far away.

This move just hasn’t quite worked out in terms of longevity for Hake, and seeing him leave in the coming weeks would not be a huge surprise as the Amorim era begins.
