Former Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has now reacted to Portuguese compatriot Ruben Amorim being sacked by the Premier League club on Monday morning.
Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United managerial spell lasted 14 months and the 40-year-old Portuguese coach took charge of his last Red Devils match at the weekend.
How will YOU remember Ruben Amorim? What is his LEGACY at Man Utd?
The ex-Sporting CP manager oversaw United’s 1-1 draw against Leeds United in the Premier League at Elland Road before his explosive post-match press conference.
Amorim’s scathing United comments on Sunday afternoon saw the former Red Devils head coach take a swipe at the behind-the-scenes hierarchy at Old Trafford.
The ex-Braga and Casa Pia manager’s tenure became untenable and United and Amorim parted ways ahead of the Red Devils’ clash against Burnley at Turf Moor.

Jose Mourinho recalls his own Man Utd managerial spell amid responding to Ruben Amorim’s dismissal
Ruben Amorim has followed in the same footsteps as Jose Mourinho by getting offloaded from Manchester United in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era at the club.
Mourinho, who is currently in charge of Benfica, replaced Louis van Gaal at United in 2016 before the ‘Special One’ was sacked by the Premier League club in 2018.
Ruben Amorim’s BIGGEST MISTAKE at Manchester United was ________________
✍️ Fill in the blank…
The 62-year-old Portuguese coach insisted that he “very well” knows the reason why his reign at the Premier League club came to an end in the 2018-19 campaign.
“My career at Manchester United, obviously, I know it very well,” Mourinho told Portuguese newspaper O Jogo.
“I also know very well the reason why I ended up leaving, but as I always do, or try to do, when I leave a club I close the door – or they close it for me – and then I don’t make comments or analyse too much externally what happened.”
Jose Mourinho tells Ruben Amorim exactly what the former Man Utd manager must do over his Old Trafford reign
Former Chelsea and Real Madrid manager Mourinho, unlike Amorim, ended his Old Trafford reign by lifting both a Europa League title and a League Cup with United.
The Benfica boss has told Amorim that he is the only person who can work out what happened with his “situation” at United and his fellow countryman must “analyse” it.
Who do YOU want as the next Man Utd manager?
What traits are you looking for?
“One door closes, another one opens, which is what happened when I left Manchester United,” Mourinho added.
“The story stayed there, the numbers stayed there, the three medals I won came home with me, and that’s it.
“The situation that happened over the 14 months Ruben was there is something that only Ruben can analyse.”
The Red Devils were sixth in the Premier League at the time of Amorim’s sacking from United and won eight of their 20 league matches under the Portuguese this season.
