Benjamin Sesko became Manchester United’s fourth major signing of the summer after joining from RB Leipzig.
The search for a striker ended with a £66m deal for Benjamin Sesko, which takes Manchester United’s spending north of £200m but completes a new-look attack for Ruben Amorim.
During the transfer saga, United beat Newcastle to Sesko’s signature despite the Magpies submitting a higher bid than the Red Devils.
Barcelona also wanted to sign Sesko next summer, so United have reaped their reward for acting quickly this summer.
Ultimately, though, Sesko also worked hard behind the scenes to make his move happen this summer.

Jason Wilcox praises Benjamin Sesko’s desire to join
Despite finishing 15th in the Premier League last season, United have continued to attract world-class talent over the summer window.
Importantly, all of United’s signings were desperate to join, even rejecting clubs in the Champions League to make sure they moved to Old Trafford this summer.
Sesko only wanted to join United, even though he had received a lucrative offer to join Newcastle. In a recent staff meeting, sporting director Jason Wilcox was full of praise for the Slovenian.
As reported by The Athletic, Wilcox told staff that Sesko had shown “tremendous desire” to join United this summer.
Wilcox pointed out that Sesko had rejected offers of a higher salary from Newcastle even after he agreed personal terms with United.
Benjamin Sesko succeeds where Viktor Gyokeres failed
Heading into the summer window, it seemed as though Amorim was keen to reunite with Viktor Gyokeres following their incredible partnership together at Sporting Lisbon.
Despite reports that Gyokeres was ‘keen’ to join United, he ultimately ended up completing a move to Premier League rivals Arsenal.
During that saga, Amorim sent a warning to Gyokeres that United only want to sign players that are desperate to play for the Red Devils.

Clearly, Gyokeres viewed United as an option rather than a priority, so Ineos ended up not submitting a bid for the Swedish star.
In contrast, Sesko pushed to join United this summer after receiving interest from Arsenal and Newcastle.
