The two signings Ruben Amorim wants after signing a striker as Man United continue Viktor Gyokeres pursuit

Manchester United are showing no signs of slowing down in the summer transfer window with one deal already confirmed and another inching closer.

On the first day of the summer window, Manchester United confirmed Matheus Cunha had signed from Wolves in a £62.5 million deal.

Just days later, United submitted a £45m bid for Bryan Mbeumo and talks are ongoing between both clubs to bring the 25-year-old forward to Old Trafford.

After that, United still need a new centre-forward and Amorim wants to reunite with Viktor Gyokeres this summer after enjoying a prolific relationship with the Swede at Sporting Lisbon.

The Gyokeres deal has become difficult after Sporting went back on their gentleman’s agreement this summer but it seems Amorim is already planning ahead.

Ruben Amorim wants to strengthen two more positions at Man United

If United can get deals over the line for both Mbeumo and Gyokeres, Amorim will have a new-look attack next season and Ineos can finally turn their attention to other targets.

With up to 10 United players who could leave this summer, Ineos have a rebuild on their hands and even without European football, Amorim could need extra depth in some positions.

According to The Athletic, Amorim would like to add another midfielder and goalkeeper to his squad this summer.

With Christian Eriksen leaving and Casemiro not getting any younger, United’s midfield options have shrunk ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

United have already missed out on Jobe Bellingham with the Sunderland youngster making a move to Borussia Dortmund. Reports have also linked United with Atalanta’s Ederson, but affording such a deal would require sales to take place.

Man United still considering goalkeeper options this summer

Altay Bayindir has been tipped to leave United this summer after an underwhelming season as the No.2 shot-stopper, but Andre Onana hasn’t been much better as the first-choice.

Onana is not concerned about exit rumours, but talk of United signing a new No.1 has been ramping up.

Earlier this week, United were linked with Gianluigi Donnarumma, and a move for the PSG goalkeeper would almost certainly put an end to Onana’s time at Old Trafford.

Alternatively, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has been linked with a move to Old Trafford, but it seems a move for a new goalkeeper will depend on sales.

So far, Ineos have found it difficult to shift unwanted players with Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Antony no closer to deciding their next club.
