The worst-kept secret in Man Utd’s transfer window is out as the club have announced the signing of Benjamin Sesko.
Benjamin Sesko joins on a five-year deal for an initial transfer fee of around £66m, with add-ons taking it beyond £70m.
Man Utd’s transfer window spend is now north of £200m as Sesko follows Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo in a complete overhaul of the forward line.
Jason Wilcox raved about the Slovenian as the club announced his signing, noting that all three signings so far have one thing in common.

Jason Wilcox on Benjamin Sesko and Man Utd transfers
United’s transfer strategy this summer of only going for players who have made up their minds about joining the club has paid dividends.
It allowed them to negotiate long and hard for Mbeumo without the pressure of a bidding war, and saw them blow Newcastle out of the race for Sesko despite bidding lower terms.
The single theme that ran in all three transfers was the single-minded desire of the players to play for Man Utd and no one else.
Wilcox noted the same while speaking to Man Utd’s official website on Sesko’s announcement.
He said: “The desire that all of our new signings have shown to join the club this summer highlights the appeal and stature of Manchester United, as we continue to build and develop a team capable of challenging for the biggest honours.”
Wilcox raves about Sesko
It is clear that Sesko was viewed as a special prospect within the corridors of Old Trafford from a very young age, and Christopher Vivell’s presence this time finally sealed the deal.
While Vivell might have been the driving force, Wilcox didn’t shy away from lauding Sesko’s qualities in the press release announcing his signing.
Wilcox said: “Benjamin possesses a rare combination of electrifying pace and the ability to physically dominate defenders, making him one of the most exceptional young talents in world football.
“We have followed Benjamin’s career closely; all of our data analysis and research concluded that he has the required qualities and personality to thrive at Manchester United.
“Working under the guidance of Ruben and our excellent performance team, Benjamin is joining the perfect environment to support him to reach his world-class potential.”
It will now be up to Sesko to ensure that United’s faith is not unfounded, and Vivell’s reputation will be at stake as well.
But Ineos have earned enough trust from the fans that Sesko will be given time and patience to reach his clearly world-class potential.
