James Overy could become the latest prospect to make a senior appearance on the international stage before debuting for Manchester United.
The past month has been an incredible experience for Manchester United Academy star James Overy.
Not only is the 18-year-old impressing at youth level, Overy has been called up to train with the first team. This gives him a chance to impress Ruben Amorim up close.
Overy has now received his first senior international call-up, after earning a place in the latest Australia squad, named by manager Tony Popovic.
The United youngster will get a chance to debut for Australia when they take on Venezuela and Colombia later this month.
Without further ado, here are three examples of United players who made their debut on the senior international stage before appearing for the Red Devils.

Facundo Pellistri
In January 2022, Facundo Pellistri made his first full international debut.
The former United forward started in a World Cup qualifier, with Uruguay winning 1-0 against Paraguay.
Pellistri became a mainstay in the Uruguay squad after his debut, despite often being overlooked at United.
The 23-year-old currently plays for Greek side Panathinaikos, after making a total of 25 appearances for United and registering two assists.
James Scanlon
James Scanlon has yet to make his senior debut at United, but the winger has made 18 appearances for Gibraltar.
The 19-year-old made his Gibraltar debut in a UEFA Nations League tie against Lithuania.
Scanlon was 17 at the time, coming on as a substitute in the 74th minute. He is the youngest United player to make a senior international debut since Norman Whiteside played for Northern Ireland.
Who is your dream Manchester United signing in 2026?
Diego Leon
When Diego Leon arrived at United in the summer, the Paraguayan left wing-back had never been called up to the senior national team.
That changed in October when Leon made his debut for Paraguay in a 2-0 defeat against South Korea.
United were pleased with Leon’s call-up at the time because the experience will help aid his development as a senior professional.
Leon is currently playing for United’s U21s and waiting to make his first appearance under Amorim.
