Manchester United loanee Rasmus Hojlund had an afternoon to forget as Napoli suffered defeat to Udinese.

Former Manchester United pair Rasmus Hojlund and Scott McTominay are chasing league glory in Italy, but their hopes of winning the Serie A have just suffered a blow.

Napoli suffered a 1-0 defeat to Udinese on Sunday afternoon which has left them third in the table.

In his last league outing, Hojlund scored a brace against Juventus and was the star of the show for the Naples outfit.

Italian media react to Rasmus Hojlund performance

Not only was Hojlund on the losing side this weekend, but he had a nightmarish performance for Napoli.

The Dane missed a glaring chance to equalise in the final few minutes, and Italian media were quick to point the finger at him after the full-time whistle.

Il Mattino gave Hojlund a 4.5 rating out of 10, and wrote: “Braces like the one against Juve are fine. In fact, they’re more than fine.

“But Rasmus’ performance in Udine is similar to the one in Lisbon against Benfica. Dull, in black and white. And the late error weighs like a millstone.”

Goal Italy also gave Hojlund a 4.5 rating, the lowest of any Napoli player.

Il Messaggero gave Hojlund a 5/10 rating and added: “Battles with Kabasele show he is in good shape and wins a couple of duels. He’s not dangerous in the opponent’s penalty area in the first half. Misses a chance to equalise at the end.”

Rasmus Hojlund match stats show familiar problem

At United, Hojlund’s finishing was criticised alongside his hold-up play, and it resulted in him scoring just four Premier League goals in 2024/25.

Against Udinese, Hojlund missed a huge chance, and his match stats paint the picture of a struggling striker.

As per SofaScore, Hojlund was Napoli’s worst player on the pitch with a 5.5 rating.

Hojlund was toothless in Udinese’s box and was practically invisible defensively with only four duels and one defensive action.

United have been told to regret allowing Hojlund to leave, but this performance suggests it was the right call.
