Isak Hansen-Aaroen shows why United moved quickly to snap him up

Isak Hansen-Aansen Aaroen made the switch to Manchester United this year 12 months after an agreement was first struck to sign him.

United agreed with Tromso in 2019 to sign the promising young talent.

Hansen-Aaroen joined up with United this past August, after making his first team debut for Tromso when just 15. He even provided an assist in one of his substitute appearances.

Since then the young Norwegian has been working with Manchester United’s under-18 side, making five appearances.

United have tested him at a higher level too, with two starts for the under-23s, one in the EFL Trophy.

Hansen-Aaroen’s best moment for United came last Friday in a 4-1 win for the under-18s over Middlesbrough.

The teenager scored an impressive solo goal to wrap up the scoring and offer a timely reminder of his talent.

Picking the ball up wide on the right, Hansen-Aaroen evaded one sliding tackle, before cutting inside and avoiding another.

He continued his jinking run and shot the ball into the bottom corner to score his first goal for United.

Promise and patience

United do not have any reason to rush Hansen-Aaroen given his young age.

There are others in the academy who are older and will get chances ahead of him, like Hannibal Mejbri and Ethan Galbraith.

But United’s coaches will test him, and give him further chances to play under-23 football this season.

Hansen-Aaroen has to grow physically before United consider him for a higher level than that.

So far United have been patient, and they will continue to be. It could be a couple of years before he is even being discussed as a possible first team option.

What is clear, is why United were so keen to sign him, moving quickly to do so a year ago.

Hansen-Aaroen is a natural talent, quick on his feet, with an eye for doing damage in the final third. His progress is one of many to keep a close eye on.
