Hull boss Arveladze wants to buy United loanee Bernard this summer

Manchester United defender Di’Shon Bernard is currently on loan at Championship outfit Hull City.

The club were recently taken over by new owners who replaced Grant McCann with Shota Arveladze but that has not impacted the defender’s standing at the club.

He has remained in the frame and Arveladze has told Hull Live that he wants to buy Bernard and keep him at the club long-term.

Apparently, Bernard is open to the idea and talks are already underway with the player, with those with his agent and United due to come in the weeks ahead.

“Yes, he’s open,” he said when asked if Bernard wanted to stay at Hull beyond the end of the season.

“It’s a great chance for them to play regularly, and probably they realise this. I’ve spoken with (him) and (he is) open, so let’s see. “I don’t know exactly if we have spoken to (Manchester United).

“We will talk to each other, a process we’ve already started. We’ll talk with (the) agents, today (Thursday) I’ve spoken with Dish (Bernard). We are busy, the club is working hard. I’ve already spoken to the players and they see their future at this club, which is good to know.

“The process is ongoing and I think we have time, not too much, but time to sit and make the right decisions which is not easy, of course.”

Bernard has seen what has happened with Axel Tuanzebe, who is further ahead in his development.

Tuanzebe has had numerous loan spells but is seemingly no nearer being regarded as a realistic option to be part of the United squad at centre-half.

He is now on loan at Napoli and perhaps Bernard is open to an earlier permanent move because he does not want to keep getting farmed out.

That said, it is hard for any young United player to make a decision when it is unknown who the new permanent manager is going to be.
