Michael Carrick admitted that Sesko could step up and help fill the goalscoring void left behind by Fernandes’ injury and Bryan Mbeumo’s AFCON departure.
“That’s the next challenge [playing without Fernandes and Mbeumo],” he said on the Premier League Productions’ ‘The Weekend Wrap.’
“That’s the next huge question: who is going to fill that void. It might be someone who just pops up, it could be Sesko who all of a sudden scores and gets a few goals.

Benjamin Sesko is now needed more than ever for Man Utd after Bruno Fernandes’ injury and Bryan Mbeumo’s AFCON exit
Sesko has been getting eased back into the United first-team squad in recent weeks after the 22-year-old Slovenian forward overcame a knee injury from November.
The Red Devils striker made his return in United’s 4-4 draw against Bournemouth at Old Trafford with a cameo appearance before starting against Villa on Sunday.
Sesko was denied the opportunity to finally return to goalscoring ways after Emiliano Martinez rose to the occasion in Villa’s Premier League encounter with United.
The Slovenia international has not scored for United since he netted in back-to-back matches against Brentford and Sunderland in September and October respectively.
