Manchester United fans have quite a lot of clubs to keep an eye on from now on until the end of the season after a busy loan window in winter.

Marcus Rashford will remain a talking point at Aston Villa, Antony has started well at Real Betis, and now Tyrell Malacia has made his debut for PSV.

Malacia went on loan to PSV with a buy clause and the way he was immediately thrust into the starting XI shows there’s huge trust there.

Tyrell Malacia makes PSV debut

Malacia had to suffer the ignominy of coming off at half-time in every appearance he made for Manchester United under Ruben Amorim but there was no such thing here.

Not only did Malacia gain enough trust to start right away, he played 78 minutes and shone on debut in an otherwise struggle for PSV.

League leader PSV dropped two points at home to Willem in a 1-1 draw but Malacia was amongst the top performers in his outing as a left-back.

He finished the game by creating three chances, the most of any player on the pitch, with his passing accuracy of 93% (41/44) speaking of a player confident and aggressive in possession.

Malacia recovered the ball four times as PSV mainly bossed possession, allowing him to get up and down the wing with abandon.

With 59 touches of the ball, he was one of the most involved players in the team alongside Joey Veerman, who started as the defensive midfielder, a position more naturally inclined to receiving the ball.

Malacia reacts to PSV debut

Malacia seems to have already taken a leadership role in the dressing room, clearly empowered by returning to his home country.

He said after the game that he was happy with the debut and his performance but the result is not to their liking.

Noa Lang, his PSV teammate, came under fire for calling out the fans for reacting harshly toward the players but Malacia came to his defence too in a commendable move.

“Over the years we have grown very close to each other. He is a great guy and has a heart of gold. He is really my buddy. We all know what Noa is like. He is always honest and always speaks out. But I think we should look at the goal we conceded rather than that,” Malacia said after the game (via VI).

Up next will be Malacia’s baptism of fire as PSV travel to Juventus in the Champions League play-offs. Man Utd scouts will be keeping a close eye on his performance then but he’s off to a good start.
