Reaction
Rotation was always certain for this fixture, it was just a question of how much, with a view to beating Everton this weekend in the Premier League.
United need a win or a draw to top the group and AZ are a tough team, even though they are without suspended top scorer Myron Boadu.
Harry Maguire starting the game shows Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is not treating this as a dead rubber, when he could have just thrown Phil Jones out there.
It will be good to get a look at the Maguire and Tuanzebe partnership at the back and see how they get on.
Anthony Martial starting is a little of a surprise after his injury last week which kept him out of the Tottenham game.
It will be interesting to see how James Garner does in midfield and whether Nemanja Matic’s return enables him to get forward.
Angel Gomes is not in the squad at all which is a blow for him and might have repercussions for a player who United are hoping will sign a new contract. He will hope to get in the squad against Colchester next week.
