Ruben Amorim has not been afraid to promote Manchester United’s academy stars to the first team this season.
It is one of the many reasons why Ineos chose to hire Ruben Amorim as Manchester United’s head coach back in November.
Amorim gave debuts to 27 Sporting academy players during his time in Portugal, and already in Manchester he is showing his faith in the youth.
Tyler Fredricson starred on his debut against Wolves – he is the latest to be given a start under Amorim. Before him, Chido Obi and Harry Amass fought their way into the first team.
Mason Mount praised Amass on social media after he made his United debut, and it seems the 26-year-old has become a role model for the young academy star.

After arriving in Manchester, Amorim admitted he loved Mount and viewed him as an integral part of his plans. Having recently recovered from injury, Mount backed Amorim to succeed at United and spoke highly of him as a coach.
In a recent interview, Mason Mount also spoke about his relationship with Amass and how impressed he has been by the 18-year-old talent.
Speaking to MUTV, Mount said: “He’s a top lad. He obviously came into the squad last season and trained with us a few times.
“Instantly, we saw what he could do. He wasn’t scared. He came into training and was getting on the ball.
“Very good technically, he’s been brilliant. I see a lot of potential in him. Obviously, I didn’t come on in the game but seeing him come on and make his debut… it was very special and I was very proud of him.
“After the game I went over to him to say well done. There’s plenty more to come from him.”
Mason Mount and Harry Maguire are becoming role models
Amorim has such a young squad at United that he needs his senior, experienced players to step up.
Bruno Fernandes is a fantastic leader as the club captain, but it seems Mount and Harry Maguire are also part of the leadership team in the dressing room.
Maguire has also been a role model to Amass as he makes his breakthrough to the first team. A report from the Daily Mail described him as “invaluable to the kids.”
The same can be said for Mount, who also speaks in his interview about holding talks with the likes of Kobbie Mainoo and Toby Collyer to offer his wisdom.
Mount must continue to improve on the pitch in order to justify his big-money move to Old Trafford, but it is easy to see why Amorim is such a big admirer.
Off the pitch, he is giving everything to help produce a positive environment and help the academy graduates settle into the first team.
