Southampton’s last visit to Old Trafford ended in a 9-0 defeat, a loss which equalled the Premier League record for the heaviest ever loss.
Ralph Hasenhuttl is preparing to bring his side back to Old Trafford once again, almost a year to the day since that chastening defeat.
Last night, he guided his side to victory away from home against Tottenham and the Saints also recently ended Manchester City’s winning run with a 1-1 draw at St Mary’s.
And as per Hampshire Live, Hasenhuttl appears out to avenge last season’s heavy thumping on Saturday lunchtime.

“I am very empty – I have no idea how the players are. We are only tired right now,” he said after the 3-2 win at Spurs.
“We have had some great results in tough games against Manchester City and Tottenham, and we haven’t lost. This is fantastic.
“We know that we need at least to perform the same on Saturday. They have 24 hours longer to recover than we have. This will be super tough.
“We lost there 9-0 last season, I haven’t forgotten this.”

That 9-0 win was behind closed doors, but United should have a full Old Trafford behind them on Saturday afternoon.
The issue is that momentum has been lost in the last two games and the confidence will have been affected by failing to kill off those games against Middlesbrough and Burnley.
The Saints have shown they are not for being pushed around in recent clashes with the big boys, and it would be no surprise if Hasenhuttl’s players shared his desire to avenge that high-profile, embarrassing defeat.
If United get chances to kill the game and take advantage of any tiredness in the visitors’ ranks, they need to take them or it could come back to haunt Ralf Rangnick once again.
