Liverpool legend Graeme Souness has once again ruthlessly criticised Paul Pogba after he astonishingly called the former Manchester United star a “lazy t**t.”

Pogba left Old Trafford for the second time in 2022 after his contract with United expired and re-signed for Serie A side Juventus.

The 30-year-old French midfielder left fans divided over his time at United, with Pogba often targeted by some supporters and pundits over his performances.

Souness was often known for taking swipes at Pogba, with the former Sky Sports pundit once claiming that he would be an “absolute doddle to play against.”

Speaking to The Sunday Times in 2020, Souness insisted that the Frenchman had “absolutely everything to be a top player,” including “super technique.”

However, the footballer-turned-pundit pulled no punches towards Pogba’s “attitude,” with Souness insisting that it was the “polar opposite of mine.”

Souness takes aim at Pogba again

Speaking at a live event in Dublin, Souness launched a scathing attack on Pogba and hit out at the “lazy” 2018 World Cup winner’s work ethic on the pitch.

“He’s an extremely talented young man,” he told the Second Captains podcast.

“He should be one of the best midfielders in the world. But he’s lazy.

“If you remember how he used to take penalties [with a stuttered run-up]. That was him wanting to be the star of the show for that period of time.

“If he’s lazy in matches, he’ll be lazy in training and how can you get after the rest of them if you don’t get after him?”

Despite admitting that Pogba is an “extremely talented” man, Souness insisted that his criticism was fair and he didn’t back down from his “lazy” remarks on the player.

When asked if his continued criticisms of Pogba were unfair, he responded: “Not for a nanosecond, no, he’s a lazy t**t.”

When Pogba shut down Souness

Pogba has endured a tough second spell at Juventus, with the France international plagued with injuries during his first season back at the club.

The former United midfielder has also been provisionally suspended from playing football after he tested positive for testosterone in a drugs test.

Despite being a target for Souness during his spell at United, Pogba once hit back at the ex-Liverpool and Scotland captain by saying that he didn’t know who he was.

“I didn’t even know who he [Souness] was, really,” he told United’s official podcast in 2020.

“I heard he was a great player and stuff like that. I know the face but [not] the name.

“Like I said, I’m not someone that watches a lot of [punditry], I watch a lot of football but I don’t stay after the game to listen to what they say about why they did this or why they did that. I like to focus on football.”
