The mood around Manchester United right now is unlike anything seen previously under Ruben Amorim.
After the devastating low which saw Manchester United lose the Europa League final to Tottenham in May, this summer was a fresh start.
Despite the fresh start for Ruben Amorim and almost all of the players, there is going to be a short rope this season and quite simply, United need to win games.
Well, if pre-season is anything to go off then United could see drastic improvements over the 2025/26 campaign. United beat Bournemouth 4-1 on Thursday, which is an extremely impressive result considering the Cherries were beaten at their own game.
Andoni Iraola was blown away by United during the game, with the performance leaving his team hapless in the end, despite the pre-match billing that it would be a closely contested battle.
Most frighteningly, United were excellent without Bryan Mbeumo or Matheus Cunha, which suggests things will only continue to improve once they are fit and firing.
Now, Gary Neville has finally discussed the deals, sharing his excitement.

Gary Neville lauds Manchester United signing Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha
There is a unanimous agreement that United have done excellent business this summer, with Cunha and Mbeumo two of the Premier League’s best, which is a massive improvement upon last season’s options.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Neville has now shared the reasons that he thinks the duo are excellent signings.
“One [reason] is that they’ve got Premier League experience. One is that they look more like Manchester United styles of players with more pace and power and the ability to have that sort of physicality, to be able to get from box to box quickly.
“I think when you look at particularly Garnacho, Sancho, Anthony… I call them more people who sort of work in tight spaces. I’ve always felt that United players that can open the legs up and really sort of stretch teams.
“They’ve not proved themselves at the highest level yet in the game expected for Premier League, club level, or, you know, European club level. So they should be really desperate and hungry to prove themselves on a huge stage which is Old Trafford.
“Hunger hasn’t always been there in the last 10 years, with players that have come to the club.”
Neville named Mbeumo in his team of the season for 2024/25 and so it is hardly a shock to see him raving over the move, but combined with Cunha, it is a seriously transformational piece of business.
Manchester United are one signing from having one of the world’s best attacks
Cunha and Mbeumo are excellent signings for the reasons Neville listed, however, the club still want to add to this attack further.
With two Premier League proven players signed, United could feel that signing a more high potential number nine is not as risky as it once seemed.
This coincides with United’s interest in Benjamin Sesko growing to the point that talks are thought to be underway over a deal.
Sesko is a generational physical talent up front, with superb athleticism and lethal ball striking which mean he will always score goals, especially with creative players like Cunha, Mbeumo and Bruno Fernandes behind him.
This would give United one of the world’s best attacks, and surely enough firepower to finish much higher than last season.
