Ineos may be regretting their decision to sell one Manchester United player this summer.

In what was the first summer transfer window since the minority takeover at Old Trafford, Ineos held a much-needed clear-out at Manchester United.

As many as eight senior United players were sold this summer while the likes of Anthony Martial, Raphael Varane and Brandon Williams left as free agents.

Overall, the summer window was considered a success by most United fans with Ineos adding five players to Erik ten Hag‘s squad.

But it has not translated to success with United currently 14th in the table after their worst-ever start to a Premier League table.

Scott McTominay is thriving at Napoli

United left it late but eventually announced the £25m sale of Scott McTominay to Napoli on deadline day.

The 27-year-old has been an immediate hit in Italy and has already been labelled a Napoli “idol” after his impressive start.

Paolo DiCanio recently suggested United directors should be “arrested” for selling McTominay.

The Scotland international has immediately become a key player under Antonio Conte and is adored by the Napoli fanbase.

Meanwhile, United cannot find a good balance in midfield under Ten Hag with Casemiro struggling for form and £42m signing Manuel Ugarte yet to impress.

Scott McTominay ‘dazzled’ Gianfranco Zola

United’s struggles in midfield this season have shined a spotlight on Scott McTominay‘s exit with the club hierarchy now facing criticism for selling him.

Former West Ham manager Gianfranco Zola has now given his verdict and admitted he has been “dazzled” by McTominay at Napoli.

Speaking on Hayters TV, Zola said: “I am very surprised. I couldn’t believe that Manchester United released him, to be honest,”

“I don’t really know what’s the reason, but for Napoli, he has been a great deal. I think everybody loves him so far. He scores goals, he performs very well and he left me a little bit dazzled, if I am honest. I didn’t expect that.

“Obviously, it’s a big thing for Italian football, he is doing very well.”
