Erik ten Hag has received a tempting ‘offer’ from a former Manchester United winger after Manchester City’s dominating 3-0 victory at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The United boss was forced to watch on as crosstown rivals City outclassed the Red Devils, with Pep Guardiola walking away with the bragging rights from the contest.
Following a controversial VAR decision in the first half, Erling Haaland stepped up for the subsequent penalty and beat United No 1 Andre Onana to fire City into the lead.
Haaland completed his brace four minutes after half-time before Phil Foden scored a third for Guardiola’s men and ensured all three points for City against United.
Ten Hag, who has faced mounting pressure this season, has struggled for his side to build momentum during United’s hit-and-miss Premier League campaign so far.
The United attacking frontline has been criticised this season over their lack of goalscoring output, with the wingers also failing to make a mark in the final third.

Gordon Hill’s message to United
Ten Hag is currently without United winger Jadon Sancho after the former England international was excluded from the first team due to his rift with the manager.
Antony has failed to impress as a winger for United this season, with the 23-year-old Brazil international coming off the bench for a brief cameo against City.
Marcus Rashford continues to be placed under the spotlight over his form and fans have called for the England star to be dropped after his performance against City.
Ten Hag can still call on Facundo Pellistri and Alejandro Garnacho as wide options, but the United boss is facing a real headache over consistent first-choice wingers.
Former winger Gordon Hill, who played for United during the 1970s, has now revealed that he is “willing” to help out Ten Hag if he needs a ‘winger coach.’
Speaking on X, formerly known as Twitter, he wrote: “If United need a winger coach, I would [be] willing [to] help.”
Ten Hag must address winger issue
Hill’s offer is one that Ten Hag should carefully consider, especially with how United’s current crop of wide players have performed in the 2023-24 season.
United’s history is littered with several talented players who produced devastating displays from wide positions, ranging from David Beckham to Cristiano Ronaldo.
It’s clear that the rotation of wingers, as well as players who are out of form, is having a real impact on United’s output in the final third this season.
Ten Hag still hasn’t found the front three who click the right way, with summer signing Rasmus Hojlund still requiring time to adapt to the new league.
If the wingers aren’t producing in the final third as they should be, then the pressure continues to mount on Hojlund to score in every match for United.
