Former Manchester United and Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim has been tipped as a potential candidate for one Premier League club, according to stunning reports.

Ruben Amorim has been a free agent since January after the 41-year-old Portuguese coach’s Old Trafford reign came to an end in the 2025-26 Premier League season.

The former Manchester United manager shared divisions with the Ineos regime in the tail end of his Red Devils run, including with director of football Jason Wilcox.

Amorim received a reported £16.7m payout after he was sacked as United head coach and replaced by Michael Carrick, who has since permanently succeeded him.

Premier League club Fulham are now targeting former Man Utd manager Ruben Amorim

Fulham boss Marco Silva is linked with a return to his native homeland after Benfica have been in advanced talks with the 48-year-old Portuguese coach.

Benfica will soon be without a head coach after former Chelsea and Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is set for a sensational return to Real Madrid.

Ruben Amorim had been linked with Benfica as a potential replacement for Jose Mourinho, but Marco Silva has become the frontrunner to replace the ‘Special One.’

TEAMtalk now reports that former Sporting CP head coach Amorim is ‘firmly’ on the ‘radar’ of Fulham ahead of losing Silva to Primeira Liga outfit Benfica.

Thomas Frank and Arne Slot could challenge ex-Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim for the Fulham managerial role

Amorim is not necessarily the clear frontrunner to succeed Marco Silva at Fulham, as the Premier League club weighs up a ‘number of managerial targets’ for the role.

Thomas Frank, who was sacked by Tottenham last season, is on the radar of Fulham if Silva leaves Craven Cottage once his contract expires this summer.

TEAMtalk added that former Brentford boss Thomas Frank and ex-Man Utd manager Amorim are on Fulham’s managerial shopping list alongside Arne Slot.

Arne Slot led Liverpool to the Premier League title in his debut season at Anfield, but a lacklustre second campaign saw the former Reds boss axed by the club.

According to TEAMtalk, Arne Slot, Frank and Amorim are ‘admired internally’ at Fulham and identified as being able to build on the ‘foundations’ of Silva’s reign.
