Ruben Amorim has singled out Benjamin Sesko alongside three other key Manchester United stars ahead of Monday evening’s Premier League clash against Bournemouth.

The 40-year-old Manchester United manager was at the Carrington training complex last Friday and Ruben Amorim held his pre-match press conference with the media.

Ruben Amorim provided an update on Benjamin Sesko and the Portuguese coach hinted that the Red Devils summer signing could return to the squad for Monday.

Sesko has been out of action for Amorim’s squad since November after the 22-year-old Slovenian forward suffered a knee injury in United’s draw against Tottenham.

The United striker was forced off in the 2-2 Premier League result against Spurs and Amorim was dealt a major blow by losing his main striking option for the last few weeks.

Ruben Amorim now sends an important message to Benjamin Sesko and other Man Utd players

Benjamin Sesko’s period on the sideline at Manchester United saw the Slovenia striker miss his country’s World Cup qualifiers during the November break.

The Slovenia international’s potential return at Old Trafford coincides with the soon-to-be departure of three key United first-team players from the club for AFCON.

Ruben Amorim will lose Noussair Mazraoui, Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo to the 2025 edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, which will run through until January.

Amorim insisted that United players will need to find a new way to play in his tactical system amid the absences of Noussair Mazraoui, Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo.

“I think it’s not just Ben, but everyone,” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.

“I think we need to adapt a little bit [to] the way we are going to play the games.

“That is a good opportunity to do that because we cannot think that we are going to play the same way without Amad, Bryan and Nous [Mazraoui].”

Ruben Amorim’s verdict on Man Utd losing Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo to AFCON 2025

Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo have been standout performers for the Red Devils in the 2025-26 Premier League season and have superbly linked up well on the right flank.

Amad has predominantly been playing as a wing-back in Amorim’s tactical system for United, while Mbeumo has become a key No 10 player for the Red Devils.

Amorim admitted that he is prepared to find new ways for United to line up in his system and rise above the challenge of playing without Amad and Mbeumo.

“But especially Amad and Bryan because of the characteristics that [are] really hard to get,” he added.

“They have more or less the same characteristics, both of them, and we are losing them for a few games.

“But it’s a good opportunity for us to try and play in a different way.”

The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament will begin on Sunday, with host nation Morocco facing Comoros in their Group A clash at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
