Man Utd fans react to Luke Shaw’s return from injury, they all think the same thing is going to happen

Manchester United have welcomed Luke Shaw back from injury. The 29-year-old was spotted participating in first-team training on Wednesday.

Although Shaw is back in training he is not fit enough to make Ruben Amorim’s 21-man squad to travel to Romania for United’s final Europa League group game against FCSB on Thursday night.

Whenever the Englishman does return to full fitness, he is set to face competition for his place, though.

United are on the verge of signing Patrick Dorgu from Lecce — a transfer that could see Shaw put up for sale in the summer.

However, despite appearing alongside teammates at Carrington on Wednesday, fans are expecting the 29-year-old’s return to be short-lived.

Fans react to Luke Shaw’s Man United return

Missing over 300 games for club and country throughout his professional career, Shaw has been constantly held back by injuries and fitness-related problems. He has featured in just three matches, in all competitions, this season.

And while fans would prefer to have him available and performing at his best, there isn’t much confidence being shown in the defender’s ability to stay injury-free.

“It’s uncanny how a new signing always seems to bring Shaw back to top form!” one fan wrote on X.

“It’s not like he will be back for long,” another added.

“He can’t stay fit to fight for a place, so no worries,” a third fan posted.

A fourth wrote: “He will get injured again.”

“Don’t worry he’ll pull a hamstring putting his boots on,” another X user said.

A damning, and widespread, verdict on Shaw, whose continued unreliability has pushed supporters to their limit.

Bit-part role

With Dorgu set to join (medical depending), and Amorim quite decided on his three preferred centre-backs, it’s hard to see where Shaw would fit in.

The defender, although vastly experienced, cannot be relied upon, and is one of the side’s best-paid players (Capology).

Shaw has two-and-a-half years left on his contract, and although unlikely to go anywhere before next week’s winter deadline, could be a genuine contender to leave in the summer.

It feels like his time at the club has run its course, with all parties in need of a change.

Once again though, United’s owners will find it very difficult to offload a player who earns so much, especially one with such a poor injury record too.
