Fabrizio Romano has opened up on Casemiro’s future at Manchester United after Turkish side Galatasaray has been heavily linked with the former Real Madrid star.
Casemiro first arrived at Old Trafford in Erik ten Hag’s debut season at Manchester United, with the Red Devils agreeing a deal worth up to £70m to sign him in 2022.
The 32-year-old Brazilian midfielder enjoyed a stellar first season under Erik ten Hag, but the former Real Madrid player’s influence at Old Trafford waned last season.
Casemiro was met with heavy criticism over his form and consistency in the 2023-24 campaign, with the United star even playing as a makeshift centre-back at times.
Despite the mounting pressure on Casemiro, United boss Ten Hag has stuck with the Brazil international as his preferred midfield pick alongside Kobbie Mainoo.

Romano’s transfer update on Casemiro
Casemiro started in the Community Shield defeat in August before retaining his place in the starting XI for the first three Premier League matches of the season.
The Brazil and Manchester United midfielder played the full 90 minutes in the 1-0 defeat to Fulham at Old Trafford and 2-1 defeat to Brighton at the Amex last month.
However, Casemiro endured a disastrous performance against United’s rivals Liverpool last weekend ahead of the September international break.
The United star was at fault on both occasions for Luis Diaz’s first-half brace before he was pulled off at half-time in the Premier League clash at Old Trafford.
Casemiro has attracted interest from Super Lig side Galatasaray, with the Turkish transfer window not closing until the middle of September.
Fabrizio Romano on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, has now claimed that Casemiro won’t leave Old Trafford at “least until 2025.”
“Casemiro, currently expected to stay at Man United at least until 2025 despite links with Galatasaray move,” he tweeted.
“Brazilian midfielder not planning to leave the club now, no concrete talks taking place with Gala.”
Ten Hag on Man Utd star Casemiro
Casemiro is under contract with United until 2026 and it remains unlikely the Red Devils midfielder will leave for Turkey before the window shuts in the country.
Ten Hag was forced to pull off Casemiro after his woeful performance against Liverpool and introduced United academy product Toby Collyer in his place.
Speaking on Casemiro, he said (via the Andover Advertiser): “I met him after the game in the dressing room, so he didn’t leave the stadium at half-time.
“Why I subbed him was because we are 2-0 down against an opponent as Liverpool, with their qualities, they are very good.
“We had to take risks because we want to bounce back, then you need players in midfield to cover ground, therefore we put Toby Collyer on the pitch.
“I think that in football everyone has to take responsibility. I’m sure he is a great character and he won everything in his career that you can imagine.
“I am sure he will keep contributing to our team and Casemiro is always winning so he will be there.”
