Former Bayern Munich star Noussair Mazraoui has sent a poignant message to Manchester United fans after linking up with Morocco for the September international break.
Noussair Mazraoui played under Erik ten Hag at Ajax before he was reunited with the Dutchman at Old Trafford in the summer transfer window.
Manchester United completed a double swoop for Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt, who also played under Erik ten Hag at Ajax, from Bayern Munich in August.
The Red Devils agreed a deal worth nearly £60m for Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt, with Ten Hag bolstering his defensive options in his first-team squad.
Mazraoui has played in all three of United’s Premier League matches this season and the former Ajax star impressed on his debut in the 1-0 win against Fulham.
The 26-year-old United defender has been deployed as a right-back while Diogo Dalot has played as a makeshift left-back in the absence of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.
Mazraoui’s message to Man Utd fans
Noussair Mazraoui has already won Manchester United fans over with his performances this season, despite the Red Devils suffering two defeats in three league matches.
The former Bayern Munich star picked up his first assist in the Premier League – and in his United career – in the 2-1 defeat to Brighton at the Amex last month.
Mazraoui played the full 90 minutes in both the Brighton defeat in August and the 3-0 Premier League loss to Liverpool at Old Trafford last weekend.
The Morocco international has now linked up with his international teammates for the September break from club football.
Morocco will be in action for their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Gabon on Friday before playing Lesotho in their second Group B match on 9th September.
Mazraoui took to social media platform X, formerly Twitter, and posted a photo of him wearing the red colours of Morocco and a clear-cut message to United fans.
“Gotta love Red,” he tweeted.
Mazraoui accepted Man Utd challenge
Mazraoui had previously made it clear that he was ready to accept the challenge of playing for United and the pressures that come with it after his Old Trafford move.
“I think now during my career I’m used to nothing else,” he told Manchester United’s official website in August.
“To perform, to have [the] pressure that you always have to become champion, I think I’m really used to that because of the clubs I’ve played for now.
“If the club demands that, if the fans demand that of the club, they demand it of you, of course.
“You have to perform, it’s no question.”
