Bruno Fernandes has explained what all Manchester United players must be thinking if they play for the Red Devils in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson period of the club.
The 31-year-old Manchester United captain had another impactful season at Old Trafford after his run of form in the second half of the 2025-26 campaign.
Bruno Fernandes netted nine times and registered a whopping 22 assists in 37 matches across all competitions for United last season.
The Portugal international broke the Premier League assist record on the final day of the season in Man Utd’s 3-0 win over Brighton at the Amex in May.

Bruno Fernandes’ vision for Man Utd after Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013
Bruno Fernandes has been widely regarded as Manchester United’s best signing since Sir Alex Ferguson stepped down after the 2012-13 campaign.
The Red Devils have not won the Premier League title in over a decade and the club have struggled since Ferguson left his role as Man Utd manager in 2013.
Iconic former United manager Ferguson led the Red Devils to all 13 of their Premier League titles during his remarkable managerial reign at Old Trafford.
Speaking to ESPN, Fernandes feels that “everyone” at Man Utd shares three things in common about altering the club’s trajectory in the post-Ferguson era.
“Regardless of the most recent years, they were not at the level that the club was used to,” he said.
“I think everyone always believes that we can be the ones who are going to do this, the ones who are going to turn the page, the ones who are going to make it possible for United to fight on all fronts.”

United ended their 2025-26 season on a high note after Michael Carrick’s men secured a return to the Champions League for the 2026-27 campaign.
Fernandes has insisted that any new Red Devils signing cannot arrive at the Premier League club without thinking that United will challenge again for the league title.
“Playing for Manchester United is always a special moment for everyone,” he explained.
“At the same time, it brings a lot of responsibility with it. But I don’t think anyone comes to Manchester United thinking that we won’t have the responsibility to win again, to be at the top of [the] Premier League, at the top of European soccer.
“Because the club’s history brings that responsibility.”
Fernandes, who will represent Portugal at the 2026 World Cup this summer, has been at Man Utd since 2020 after he was signed from Sporting CP.
