Brazil star Matheus Cunha has been told what to expect if he crosses paths with his Manchester United teammate at the World Cup tournament this summer.
Matheus Cunha is set to feature at his first World Cup competition after former Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti named the 27-year-old in his 26-man Brazil squad.
The Brazil international has now signed off on his first full Premier League season at Manchester United after his stunning £62.5m transfer from Wolves in 2025.
Cunha will link up with United teammate Casemiro, who will leave Old Trafford this summer, for the five-time World Cup champions’ campaign in North America.

Noussair Mazraoui’s feelings on facing Matheus Cunha in Brazil’s encounter with Morocco at the World Cup
Brazil are in Group C at the World Cup after the country secured their tournament qualification under Carlo Ancelotti, who became the team’s head coach last summer.
Ancelotti’s men will face Morocco, Haiti and Scotland in Group C ahead of potentially punching their ticket to the knockout rounds of the FIFA tournament.
Morocco are Brazil’s first opponent at this summer’s World Cup and Noussair Mazraoui could come face to face with Manchester United star Matheus Cunha.
Speaking to Manchester United’s official website, Noussair Mazraoui admitted that he is not afraid of Cunha if he comes up against the Brazil star on the same flank.
“When you have time, we [all] talk about the club, everything,” he said.
“This subject as well, especially [with] Cunha, because he’s probably going to play [as a] left or right winger, [if he’s] on my [side], then [it’s] 1v1, so it’s going to be fun.”

Noussair Mazraoui’s expectations for Morocco ahead of their World Cup campaign in North America
Man Utd defender Noussair Mazraoui played a key part in Morocco’s stunning run to the semi-finals of the last World Cup in Qatar in 2022.
The 28-year-old former Ajax and Bayern Munich star admitted that Morocco are well-positioned going into the World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
“I think we’ve been doing really good on an international level as well as in Africa itself,” Mazraoui explained.
“So yeah, expectations are much higher than they were four years ago because we’ve reached that and because we’ve done pretty well the last four or five years.
“So yeah, the expectations are bigger and it’s up to us to handle that kind of pressure and to show again that you can do the same thing that you did four years ago, and it’s not just luck and it’s going to be like a constant level. I think that’s our biggest ambition for us.”
Brazil and Morocco’s Group C opener at the World Cup is scheduled for 13th June at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
