Manchester United have a new head coach and right now he will be getting to grips with his new role in Carrington.

However, the 39-year-old Portuguese coach has already made one big decision at Manchester United.

Ruben Amorim has only been in Manchester a few days and yet has already got fans believing once again.

The former Sporting Lisbon boss was pictured with Leny Yoro and Kobbie Mainoo on Tuesday, which got fans carried away with excitement over how he would use the youngsters.

One man who wouldn’t have been happy to see Amorim’s arrival however is Ruud van Nistelrooy, as the Dutchman’s short return to Old Trafford was ended on Monday.

Van Nistelrooy departs following four unbeaten games as interim head coach – as Amorim decided against keeping him after weeks of pondering what would happen to the United legend.

Why Ruben Amorim opted against Ruud van Nistelrooy

The question however remains why Amorim refused Van Nistelrooy – with the answer being revealed to United in Focus by transfer expert Graeme Bailey.

“I’m told that Ruud would have been open to staying but the footballing department made it clear that it would be Amorim’s decision, they wouldn’t force him upon him.

“Again I don’t think Ruud wanted to be forcing himself on Amorim either, but it was made clear by Amorim that he didn’t want to take on Ruud – but made it clear it was nothing against him as a person.

“But he already had his plans in place, so no matter who it was, he wouldn’t have wanted them as part of the team.

“Amorim didn’t want him to just be around picking bibs up and that sort of thing, he’s more respectful than that. So a clean break which I think everyone at the club will be happy with.”

This all makes sense, with Amorim having a handful of staff with him – such as Carlos Fernandez, Ruud would automatically be pushed down to fifth in the hierarchy.

One Manchester United coach could be of use to Amorim

While Van Nistelrooy was found to be expendable by Amorim – there is one manager who may be deserving of a promotion.

Adam Lawrence has proved himself to be an outstanding coach for the U18s – winning the treble last season and starting this season in a similar fashion.

The U18s have been unstoppable once again in the U18 Premier League and hold a five-point lead over City at the top of the table already.

Lawrence seems destined for bigger things – and we would not be shocked to see Amorim hand him a promotion into the first team set-up at some point.
