Manchester United forward Alejandro Garnacho scored a superb goal to kickstart the team’s victory over Everton.

After the third international break of the season, Manchester United returned to action with a bang. This was much better than the limp performance after the first, when United were beaten 3-1 at home by Brighton.

Alejandro Garnacho led the way, scoring an incredible overhead kick goal in the third minute, setting up a 3-0 victory.

Garnacho’s strike was hailed as a ‘goal of the season‘, with Gary Neville adding it is the best overhead kick he has ever seen. Why stop there?

Tarkowski hails Garnacho

The compliments have been gushing towards Garnacho. It’s understandable. The goal is a contender for the best Premier League goal of the decade, not just the season.

Even Everton defender James Tarkowski admits to being taken aback. He says he was dazzled by the quality of the strike.

He told the Everton website: “The first half, I thought we played really well. They scored one of the best goals I’ve ever seen, especially when I have been on the pitch.”

Tarkowski explained that he felt Everton had played well, until a second half penalty doubled Manchester United’s lead, and he didn’t agree with the decision.

He said: “We had four or five great chances but just didn’t put it in the back of the net.

“Second half, the penalty kills the game. I haven’t seen it back but it felt soft at the time.”

Manchester United hit form

Manchester United have been plodding along in recent weeks, grinding out results. This was summed up by a lacklustre but functional 1-0 victory over Luton Town before the break.

This win at Everton was a more complete display, featuring three goals from forwards, and Garnacho’s goal gave the team a spark.

This was necessary amid a difficult week, where United go away to Galatasaray and then away to Newcastle.

Two defeats could drastically change the narrative, but at least United head into these games on form, and with restored belief. It’s amazing what a few wins can do.
