It has been just over two weeks since Erik ten Hag was sacked as the manager of Manchester United.

The Red Devils have swiftly moved on and appointed Ruben Amorim as Erik ten Hag‘s successor, with the Portuguese manager welcomed to Carrington on Monday afternoon.

There are no traces left of Ten Hag’s time at the club with Manchester United confirming that his assistants Ruud van Nistelrooy and Rene Hake have left alongside two other coaches.

Amorim has brought his own staff with him from Portugal as he looks to start a new chapter, and it seems Ten Hag is also set to being a new adventure of his own.

Ten Hag has been tipped to become a chairman and has been spotted at multiple Eredivisie games in recent weeks, but it seems his next job offer could come from Italy.

Ten Hag arrived as United’s new manager in 2022 after building up an impressive reputation at Ajax.

His Ajax teams were full of young, exciting talent and were a treat to watch. Sadly that wasn’t the case at United and Ten Hag will hope that his time in Manchester hasn’t put too much of a dent in his reputation.

According to Italian outlet Il Messaggero, Ten Hag is one of the candidates being considered for the AS Roma job by club president Dan Friedkin.

Roma sacked Ivan Juric as manager on Sunday after their poor start to the Serie A season.

He joins a shortlist of managerial candidates that also includes Graham Potter, who was previously linked to the United job.

Ten Hag’s Ajax team made headlines in the 2018/19 season after going on a remarkable run in the Champions League.

A team that included the likes of Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, Andre Onana and Donny van de Beek reached the semi-finals of the Champions League before being beaten in dramatic circumstances by Tottenham.

Ajax’s squad was picked apart by European giants after their run in Europe, and Ten Hag was also hot property.

As reported by Dutch outlet Telegraaf, Roma’s interest in Ten Hag dates back to 2019 when they tried to appoint him as manager only to be told “no” by Ajax.
