Erik ten Hag targeting six Manchester United signings and is pushing for two as priority

Ralf Rangnick has officially left Manchester United and new manager Erik ten Hag will have even more control over the club’s future direction.

The club’s immediate priority over the next few weeks is to strengthen and secure new signings before the club head off on pre-season tour in early July.

Ten Hag expects the first batch of United’s players back as early as June 27, and having a couple of new faces in by then would be a great start.

The new manager reportedly has a clear idea of what, and who he wants at Old Trafford, report The Mirror.

Ten Hag targeting six

Ten Hag is targeting six Manchester United signings this summer. It’s a little short of the 10 Ralf Rangnick recommended, but still a substantive number.

The Mirror claims Ten Hag sees defender Jurrien Timber and striker Darwin Nunez as priority signings.

The Ajax and Benfica stars would immediately strengthen the spine of United’s team, ahead of further incomings.

The four other signings Ten Hag reportedly wants are two full-backs, a midfielder, and another forward.

This might not be enough in midfield, so there could be some movement here, but it also depends how he plans to use returning loanees Donny van de Beek and James Garner.

The reported decisions over new full-backs is encouraging, and unsurprising. This has been a real weak point for United lately, and the position is key to Ten Hag’s style of play.

United have a reported £120 million summer budget, The Times reports, but United could potentially double this with player sales this summer.

Ten Hag targeting six incomings is a reasonable start, and United’s board need to deliver, ideally landing his first choice players.
