Erik ten Hag has broken his silence on his future plans four months after leaving Manchester United.
Ineos made the call back in October to sack Erik ten Hag following a poor start to the season. It came just months after the Manchester United ownership handed the Dutchman a new one-year deal.
Looking back on his exit, Raphael Varane was surprised Ten Hag wasn’t sacked after the FA Cup final win over Manchester City. After a season review, Ineos decided to keep hold of him – at least for a few more months.
Reports claimed Ten Hag was “devastated” by the sacking and the 55-year-old has not rushed into another managerial role since leaving Old Trafford.
Since leaving, Ten Hag has been spotted at Borussia Dortmund and has been linked to a handful of other jobs. Ten Hag was beaten to the Feyenoord job by United legend Robin van Persie, who was announced as the Dutch club’s manager on Sunday.
But it seems the former United boss is enjoying his break.
Erik ten Hag confirms future managerial plans
After being sacked, Ten Hag sent an emotional message to United fans thanking them for their support during his two years as manager.
Since then, he has remained fairly tight-lipped about his time at the club. But Erik ten Hag has now spoken out about his time in Manchester as well as confirming his future plans.
Ten Hag has confirmed he is not currently looking for a new job until the summer. Speaking to SegStories, he said: “I’ve already decided not to take any job until the 1st of July, so until the start of the new season”.
Speaking about his time at United, Ten Hag admitted: “If there’s one thing I miss, it’s Old Trafford”.
“We’ve had many highs at Man United, but as I always say: there is always room for improvement. Good is not enough.”
Erik ten Hag avoids Ruben Amorim mistake
Ruben Amorim was the manager chosen by Ineos to replace Ten Hag at United, but the Portuguese head coach has endured a tough start in England.
United served Amorim an ultimatum when poaching him from Sporting Lisbon – either he joined midway through the season or not at all.
Amorim’s preference was to join United at the end of the season but Ineos were not willing to wait around.

Without a pre-season to prepare and a summer window to recruit players that fit his system, Amorim has found it difficult to change United’s style of play – something Ten Hag was criticised for during his tenure.
It seems Ten Hag is keen to avoid making the same mistake by choosing to find a new club in the summer rather than midway through a season.
