Manchester United loanee Dylan Levitt made sure his first senior league goal was a special one, after netting a rocket against Motherwell.
The Welshman opened the scoring at Tannadice Park with a 29th minute piledriver which flew into the top corner.
Following a headed clearance, the ball broke perfectly to the on-rushing midfielder who caught the ball perfectly and smashed the ball past a helpless Liam Kelly.
It was the 21-year-old’s first league goal at senior level. His special strike comes after netting his goal at senior level in last month’s Scottish Cup win against Kilmarnock in extra-time.
Levitt’s wonder-strike caught the attention of former Manchester United defender David May, who was more than impressed with the youngster’s effort.
Giving his post-match reaction to his side’s 2-0 win, Dundee United manager Tam Courts spoke about Levitt’s impressive goal: “Obviously when the ball fell to Dylan on the edge of the box you couldn’t have handpicked a better player for it to fall to.
“What a sweet strike.”
The man himself also gave his view on the goal, the Wales international said: “It’s always good to be on the scoresheet especially wearing that jersey. I scored in it in the cup as well.
“It’s the perfect night.”
Levitt finished the game with 56 touches and completed 30 of his attempted 40 passes (75%). He created two chances which was more than any other Tangerines player.
He also made two tackles, two interceptions and two clearances.
Dundee United’s 2-0 win against Motherwell saw Courts’ side leapfrog their opposition into fourth place in the Scottish Premiership table.
The Tangerines’ next league game sees them host the reigning Scottish champions Rangers, where Levitt could come up against Manchester United teammate Amad Diallo.
But first Dundee United travel to Partick Thistle on Saturday with a place in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals up for grabs.
