Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has effectively confirmed Jadon Sancho’s impending exit to join Manchester United.
Watzke conducted a press conference this morning and unsurprisingly he was asked about Sancho.
United fans finally got the ‘here we go’ they were waiting for yesterday and now Watzke has had his say.
He said that it was Sancho who pushed for the move to Old Trafford, admitting Dortmund tried to keep him.

“It was Jadon’s desire to change, we would have liked to keep him,” he admitted.
That will be music to the ears of United fans. Sancho was clearly keen to come back to England and show what he can do at Old Trafford.
United are signing one of the most exciting forwards in European football right now.
And he was clearly convinced by the direction Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is taking the club in to push so hard for the move.

One step closer
After such a long saga, when fans didn’t know whether Sancho would arrive at all, it’s great to hear Watzke talking like it’s finally a done deal.
We all know the confirmation is coming, even if we might have to wait until England’s time at the Euros is over.
It also makes a pleasant change for United not to have left it so late, after too many windows where deals have done down to the deadline.
And it’s happening at least in part because of Sancho’s desire to wear the famous red shirt and step out at Old Trafford.
