Former Manchester United and Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov has now dropped his clear-cut verdict on Benjamin Sesko’s debut season at Old Trafford.
Benjamin Sesko netted 12 times and assisted once in 32 matches across all competitions for Manchester United in the 2025-26 campaign at Old Trafford.
The 22-year-old in-form Slovenian forward missed the tail end of the season after he was ruled out with an injury for United’s final three Premier League matches.
Sesko experienced a mixed run of form in his first season in England after Man Utd splashed out an initial transfer fee of £66.3m to sign him from RB Leipzig.

Dimitar Berbatov on Benjamin Sesko’s struggles at Man Utd before the Slovenia striker came into his own
Benjamin Sesko went his first five Premier League matches without scoring before the Slovenian striker netted against Brentford and Sunderland in 2025.
However, the Manchester United striker then failed to score in his next nine Premier League matches in the season, as well as having to overcome a knee injury.
Sesko was able to find consistent goalscoring form after Ruben Amorim was sacked as Man Utd manager and Michael Carrick arrived at Old Trafford back in January.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Dimitar Berbatov explained why he thinks the Slovenia international was able to turn the tide in his favour during the 2025-26 season.
“I think after the slow start, he found his footing in a way, which I’m very happy for him because he is a tall lad,” he said.
“I think he’s very quick as well. He’s good in the box. He can score with a header.
“So, it’s about working with him in the training ground. And when I say working, not together with the team, but individually.
“I strongly believe that in today’s football, the way you have a goalkeeper coach, you have a defensive coordinator or coach or goalkeeper [coach] or set-piece coach, I think you should have a striker coach or even midfield coach.
“You know, so they can work with these types of players. And, of course, you have your manager. Then all together play because it’s a chain, it’s a big chain. Everybody’s connected.”

Former Man Utd striker Dimitar Berbatov shares his feelings about Benjamin Sesko’s future at Old Trafford
Sesko found the back of the net seven times in 13 Premier League matches under Michael Carrick, who was appointed the permanent United manager last week.
Berbatov admitted that Sesko bounced back well over the course of the 2025-26 campaign and he expects big things from the ex-RB Leipzig striker at Old Trafford.
“So, I think he should continue to work and move upwards because I think he’s shown us that he has the qualities,” he added.
United agreed to add-ons to sign Sesko last August, with the combined transfer deal for the former Leipzig and Salzburg ace being worth £73.7m.
