Manchester United look set to complete summer business early, and Diego Leon is one face already set to arrive at Carrington in June.
This upcoming summer is pivotal for Ineos in the process of overhauling Ruben Amorim’s squad, with several incomings and outgoings expected.
Due to the sheer amount of work that needs to be completed, deals are already being worked on with Manchester United closing in on Matheus Cunha as the first blockbuster signing of the summer.
A deal to sign Cunha is thought to be close, while United are also close to adding 18-year-old Enzo Kana-Biyik on a free, although a loan to Lausanne awaits him for the 2025/26 campaign.
However, the first deal agreed for this summer is one which has been known since January, with Diego Leon agreeing to join United once he turned 18, which did earlier this month and will now arrive once the transfer window opens.
Until then, Leon will continue playing for Cerro Porteno in Paraguay, and his latest performance brought a goal.

Diego Leon among the goals for Cerro Porteno
Despite a move to United coming for Leon, he has had to put this aside since January and perform to a high level for Cerro Porteno, and he has done just that.
Only turning 18 earlier this month, Leon has started seven of 16 Primera Division Apertura games this season, along with one in the Copa Libertadores.Likely,
It is likely that the Paraguayan side are not overly fussed on giving him game time in the knowledge he is leaving. But on Monday, he was in action and scored for Cerro Porteno.
The goal put Porteno 1-0 ahead in the game, which saw a 3-1 victory for the side placed third in the division, and it was a goal which showcased his ability on the front foot.
Leon was waiting at the back post to collect a rebound and finish well past the goalkeeper.
This was his second goal of the season in eight games, boasting an impressive goal every 261 minutes of game time for Cerro Porteno from left back, which should bode well for his place in United’s squad.
Ruben Amorim will be pleased with Diego Leon’s attacking nature ahead of Manchester United move
While not expected to be an instant first-teamer at United, Leon fits perfectly into the system that Amorim has been implementing at Old Trafford as a left wing-back.
Within the 3-4-2-1 system, Amorim wants the wing-backs to be the width of this team, and when the attack is developing down one side, the opposite wing-back must be there as a back-post option.
We have seen this with the injured Diogo Dalot a few times lately, and Leon’s goal for Cerro Porteno was a shining example of his ability to be the kind of wing-back option Amorim desires, as he reads the game so well to be a threat in the box.
With Patrick Dorgu and Harry Amass both options in this position for United, chances are that Leon will have to head out on loan or spend a period with the U21 side before he can be considered an option for Amorim.
