Manchester United have been dealt a major injury blow as Diogo Dalot faces a spell on the sidelines.

Time and time again, Manchester United are dealt injury blows that make life harder for the head coach.

The Red Devils have suffered quite a few lengthy injuries, with defensive duo Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw missing the majority of the season. Ruben Amorim has also been without Amad Diallo in recent weeks due to an ankle injury he sustained in training.

Additionally, Joshua Zirkzee’s campaign came to a premature end when the Netherlands international suffered a third injury.

Injuries are the last thing Amorim wants as he prepares his United side for a crucial Europa League semi-final tie against Athletic Club, with the first leg taking place next Thursday in Spain.

Unfortunately for Amorim, the United first-team has suffered another setback ahead of the game.

Diogo Dalot could miss rest of the season

Ruben Amorim announced at his press conference that United will be without right-back Diogo Dalot for the foreseeable future.

The Portugal international, who is usually hailed for his availability, suffered a calf injury after putting his body on the line for the team in recent weeks.

Dalot was not only ruled out of Sunday’s Premier League trip to Bournemouth, but his season could be over.

“No, Diogo Dalot is out,” Amorim told reporters this afternoon. “We don’t know how long he’s going to be out. But he’s out for these next games.

“We will see to the end. Amad is near, Mattha is near and the rest is at the same pace. Ayden is not ready, so that’s it.

“There is that possibility but I don’t know, we will check week by week because he works really hard,he can recover quite well, we’ll see.

“He has something in his muscle, his calf, he had a sequence of games, he played all the time, we try to manage but the players play a lot of minutes and not so ready to cope with that. Dalot felt something.”

There is no denying that Amorim will miss Dalot for however long he is absent.

The Portuguese international has his critics but every manager can do with a player who is also available and willing to play in any role asked of him.
