Manchester United youngster Diego Leon has been omitted from Paraguay’s World Cup squad.
Paraguay have announced their final 26-man squad for the World Cup ahead of the tournament.
The South American nation are in Group D along with Australia, Turkey and the USA.
Paraguay’s Federation confirmed the squad via Instagram, with Manchester United prospect Leon missing out.
Manchester United signed Leon last year from Paraguayan club Cerro Porteno.
Leon played for United during pre-season but spent the rest of the 2025/26 season with the Red Devils’ under-21 side.
The one brief change for Leon was his call-up to the Paraguay national team in October.

At just 18, Diego Leon made his Paraguay debut in a friendly match with South Korea.
Paraguay had already clinched World Cup qualification and were exploring their options ahead of the upcoming tournament.
In the end, Paraguay coach Gustavo Alfuso felt he had better, more experienced options than Leon when he was putting together his final Paraguay squad.
If he went to the tournament, it was unlikely that Leon would have played, so he may actually be better off missing out.
It allows him to be present for the start of Manchester United’s pre-season where he can try and impress Michael Carrick and the coaching staff.
Leon still has some work to do to get into first team contention, and a loan deal could be possible for 2026/27.
